We were just looking for one of these the other day at work. This is a way to complie FAQ’s in the Wordpress.
A simple FAQ plugin where you can create Categories and put Questions in them. You can easily insert them in a page with the WYSIWYG editor. Able to turn JavaScript on or off.
Anything we do to keep people on the site longer is a good thing:
A widget that tries to improve the site bounce rate by producing links to posts and pages matching search engine terms used to find the page. For instance if the page displayed is where the user landed after clicking a Google search result link the widget tries to inform about more reading on the site that might interest the user.

Danny Brown had a great post about IKEA and the design of their stores. It reminded me of the struggles my work is going through right now trying to be come better eCommerce people. Here are a few things from the article – see the full post here:
Great point and one that is hard to do. Hard to have the discipline:
Consumers love simplicity. We don’t want to be confused with multiple messages and options. We just want to buy the product or service that we need at that time and have it work, or improve our lives. Make our lives simpler.
Same concept we should emulate online:
BUT… I am a huge fan of the layouts in their retail stores. You go in the front entrance, and you simply follow a path until you reach the checkouts. You never feel lost, or cluttered – everything is relaxing.
Anyway – great food for thoughts. Please leave comments if you know of other great user experience in online or off line stores.

This is a very timely article, as today our network guy gave a me a call to warn me our website’s error log was out-of-control. The caching plugin we were using was haywire. I had to turn off the page level caching to slow the bleeding. That increased our page load times and Tim said, and I quote, “this is getting so slow – page load times are almost 3 seconds.:
WHAT – 3 seconds. Seriously – but he is right. We need to get pages loading as fast as possible…and now.
Here is a tool for you:
We’ve just launched Site Performance, an experimental feature in Webmaster Tools that shows you information about the speed of your site and suggestions for making it faster.
If you are not using CSS sprites, you need to get on it. If you don’t know what they are – well, please figure it out.
It’s all about getting the page to load as fast as you can. Remember – half your audience has ADD!

Checking sites in different browsers stinks. Browsera is a tool which can make that a little less painful.
Browsera is an all-in-one, web-based tool for testing web sites for errors, complications, and layout issues. Unlike other similar tools, it does more than just take screenshots of various browsers; it provides an in-depth assessment of problematic areas in need of attention.
Browsera Simultaneously Tests Your Site In Different Browsers
Ah yes – finally. Time to get a logo for buytomsstuff.com. This can be hard – but my new favorite way to shop for logos makes it easy.
Getting a logo used to be hard and expensive. 99designs makes it easy and almost fun.
Now go take a look and give me some feedback on which logo you like. Here is my project.
If you have not read my last post – I have decided to build a site to sell of all the things from my parents estate.
My first step was a name – and with buytomsstuff.com purchased I turned my attention to the template.
It’s hard to find a good temple for a site like this. It is a cross between a retail marketplace and a classified site. The latter gave me a couple of good leads to a theme called “Classipress“. Now – this is really a classified site, but I felt it would be much better for the sheer number of items I have to sell. Plus, I have a few categories too…so I think it will handle that better too. Please give me your feedback.
I’m really thinking I like green for my color. We’ll see how it looks as we get closer to getting the site launched.
Tune in for the next post when I reveal the new logo and add it to the template.
Stay tuned – and please let me know if there are any questions.
